Never Go Back

Never Go Back by Kyle Eggleston Sometimes, you gotta accept the fact that certain things will never go back to how they used to be. That’s an interesting thought. You can never go back in time to fix or change anything. It’s just not possible. We might want to go back in time and change anything, everything, but we can’t. Simple? Well not simple to hear, but very easy to say. So what do we do about all of this? Nothing. We do nothing. We can do nothing. You’d like to do something, but no that’s really not going to do any good in this life. So we wait. We wait for something to come along and hopefully we are able to anticipate the future. The future is all we can hope for.

Article Of Faith 10

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

Okay, so there are a few tings to unpack here. Let’s list them:

  1. Literal gathering of Israel
  2. Restoration of the Ten Tribes
  3. New Jerusalem will be built in Amercia
  4. Christ will come back and reign
  5. Earth to become a kingdom

Did I get all of those right? I think I did, not sure though. I mean it’s an interesting list to say the least. I think the “New Jerusalem” part is meant to happen in Missouri. Don’t quote me on that, but they do have Adam-ondi-Ahman there, I think? Let’s google it:

Adam-ondi-Ahman is a historically significant site in Daviess County, Missouri, located about 70 miles north of Kansas City. According to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is where Adam and Eve lived after leaving the Garden of Eden and will be a key gathering place before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.1

Yeah, I thought there was something about that! So that’s an interesting tidbit. I don’t know too much about the whole Ten Tribe thing, just things I’ve heard in passing here and there.

The Earth becoming the Celestial Kingdom isn’t new. I guess everyone who goes there will become Gods and Goddesses and rule from Earth to their various planets they create? I don’t think the church teaches that anymore. We don’t get our own planet anymore. We become joint heirs with Christ if we live up to all the things we’re supposed to live up to. There’s been a major shift in thinking relating to how the end times will be when it’s all said and done. I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out!

Didn't Sleep

What's the point of sleep anymore if I can't sleep? I don't think I slept any good last night. I was awake at 3 am wondering to myself, what on earth am I doing awake? Yeah, that happened. It doesn't make any sense. Fortunately, it's the weekend. So, I can catch up on sleep tonight. I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow, so it's a good opportunity to actually sleep for once. Whatever the case, I hope I'll be able to fall asleep and stay asleep. We will see what happens.

Temptation Bible vs Book of Mormon

In the Bible in 1 Corinthians 10:13 we find: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able ; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. But what might seem as a contradiction is found in Alma 13:28 But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on his holy name, and watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear , and thus be led by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all long-suffering; So, which is it? Either God tempts you to a point and stops, or you have to actively pray not to be tempted beyond that no return point. Which is it?

An Opposition In All Things

Long has been the story told about how there must be an opposition in all things. From the pre-existence there was Satan, Lucifer the Son of the Morning. In the beginning we were with God in his presence. We learned all we could while there. Until the moment we couldn’t progress any more, we were unable to become like God. So, we were given the opportunity to come to Earth to gain a body. A Savior would be provided to atone for our sins enabling us to come back to the presence of God. The idea that an opposition must be in all things comes from 2nd Nephi: For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither...
