Books

Went and got "The Illustrated Man" and "Dandelion Wine" by Ray Bradbury.

So far so good. Currently reading "The Illustrated Man". I'm enjoying it so far. Should be able to get through a good portion of it this weekend. He's becoming one of my favorite authors.

Friday is ALMOST here

Ah... can't wait for the weekend. Hopefully it will be a relaxing one. Who knows what will happen this weekend. Living life is good... just enjoying it all.

But yep, can't wait for the weekend.

Sammy The Couch Napper

Well Sammy's back to his normal tricks. Running around with three feet... switching off the back legs. (Don't ask me why he does this... all I know is he does it for kicks.)

He doesn't like to jump down from couches much at the moment. Not sure why that is... his tummy might still be a little sensitive and is just afraid of jumping such large distances. If his ball is on the couch and he is on the floor... he'll just sit there and bark at it until we get it for him. Such a goofy dog.

He did manage to get his ball off the dryer the other day... not sure how that happened. But one moment he was barking at the dryer, and the next moment he was running around with his yellow blinky ball.

Good thing about those blinky balls, he's not been able to trash one yet.

SGU: Subversion

Holy crap... this episode rocked. It was good to see Jackson and O'Niell again.

But wow... the interrogation was just pure awesome. Can't wait till I can watch the next episode.

I don't have SyFy anymore. So I have to watch the episodes on Hulu for now. But they're like a week late in getting new episodes... so shoot.

I wonder if they'll reach destiny with the Stargate or not. I'm betting... or hoping... that Rush will make a connection and go through. Then they'll have Tilford on the ship as well... that could be fun. We'll have to wait and see though. Oh good times ahead for sure.

Sammy Update

Sammy is doing good. He's eating, which is good. He's just chillin on the couch at the moment. Slept a good portion of the day... probably due to the drugs the doc provided. Oh and he's been drinking water which is good too.

So yep on his way to recovery for sure.

Puppy Home

Well... Sammy the dog had surgery a few days ago. He had a piece of rubber in his intestine. The vet doc removed the piece of rubber and took out about a foot of intestine.

Brought Sammy home today. He's doing much better. He's sleeping on the couch at the moment. Such a good dog. I hope this sort of thing doesn't happen again. That would be a bad thing for sure.

But yep, he's on his way to recovery.

Waiting For Food

Went to the Cheesecake Factory the other night. When we got there, it was packed. We were told our wait time would be between 60 and 80 minutes.

It was amusing to see all of the people that came in... were told the wait time and then were offended because of it. Then there were the people who were waiting to be seated, and after asking how much longer they had to wait, and were told they still had an hour, were offended and left.

I kept thinking to myself... they told you how much of a wait you had. If you can't be patient... shoot, you do deserve to leave.

Good times were had. Good food was had... Shoot, the cheesecake alone was worth it!

SG:U Lost

Wow... where to even begin with this episode.

I really enjoyed this one. Mostly because they have to use the Stargates to get to Destiny... you know, traveling by Stargate, what the freakin' show was originally about... before they introduced space ships? Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about.

Sad they left the black guy behind, only to find out that they didn't get back to the ship. Makes you wonder how they'll get back... they do have to get back right? Maybe? Perhaps?

Who knows, they might end up finding the people that left the group on that one Stargate... on that one planet... shoot, I'm going to have to hunt down that episode now aren't I?

Anyways... this episode rocked. Don't have a favorite part of it all... but I enjoyed it a lot.

I had an important thing to say...

So, as I sat down... I was going to write something important. Possibly something worthwhile... maybe something a little dramatic? Wouldn't you know it... I got side tracked by reading other blogs and updating my Google Chrome to use a different theme and update/sync my settings and bookmarks across four computers... yeah I forgot what I was gonna say.

Oh well... perhaps one day I will recall what was oh so important to say. Then again... perhaps not. If I do... you'll be the first to know... oh internet of mine. If I don't remember... meh, probably wasn't that important to begin with. So I'll just deal with either one that comes my way.

Mother's Day Is Coming

So... you've heard the rumors. Now meet the myth... or legend. Yes, that's right. Your mother.

Remember how in a week or so Mother's Day will be here. Well if you aren't so sure about that... go check the calendar. Don't worry, I'll be here. Just go check it out... I'll wait for you.

...

...

Oh what's that? You went to the calendar and checked it, and found what? Mother's day is coming up? Wow... aren't you a smart one! Yes, that is correct. Mother's Day is coming up and is approaching. What do you have in mind for your mother. Oh and don't forget... your spouse can have Mother's Day too. ;-) You better not forget her!

Anyways... what do you usually do for Mother's Day? If you still haven't a clue what to do... at least send a card and call her on the phone. It will make her day.

Trus me on this. Don't mess this up.

SGU: Human

In the latest episode, we get some nice character development in regards to Dr. Rush. Actually we're inside his mind for the majority of the episode. You see, he's hooked himself up to the chair that's on the ship... hopefully to find a way to control the thing. Very nice episode. I highly enjoyed this one.

You also get to see what was going on in his life before the whole Stargate thing entered it. Complete with a cameo from Dr. Daniel Jackson. That was a nice touch. His wife has cancer, and in this version of things, he's not paying attention to her... because he's already lived it. Makes you wonder... how he handled things before? I'd like to believe that he took care of her, was by her side etc.

Anywho, during the whole episode... the thing he keeps pushing away is the key to it all. There are 46 chromosomes in the human genome... that is the key to guiding the ship and making it do whatever they want. Rather amusing if you ask me. Wait a second.... I thought there were 23? Now I'm confused... I'll have to re-watch the episode.

The sub plot. Okay, so they come across a planet with ancient ruins. The team that goes gets stuck and the ship has to leave. It's now up to Rush in the coming weeks to find a way to turn the ship around to pick them up... or... hey they have Stargates on the planets right? Hmmm could they I don't know perhaps go planet hopping hoping to find that Destiny is near by? Oh yes, that would rock.

We'll see how this pans out. It's picking up speed again... should prove interesting.

SGU: Faith

So the ship drops out of FTL and finds a planet that was never found before... because when the ship that was depositing the Stargates was flying through, well the planet wasn't there.

So they do some exploring... decide that they're stuck there for a month, and send a team down.

People wig out, some believe they were led there by God, others think the aliens from past episodes are going to come back and haunt/kill them.

In the end, you have a bunch of people wanting to stay, others who don't. It's all good. Oh, and it appears the guy in charge... yeah his mistress/gf/whatever is pregnant. Fun times... more drama? Yes, yes there will be it seems.

This was a decent episode. I'm glad the colonel had the guts to say to the Marines that they needed to get back on the ship and not to be pushed around. It was also nice to see him and Rush talking more... they've been through a lot over the past couple of weeks... in the end they might turn up as friends. We'll see though.

Wal-Mart - Stargate

So... went to Wal-Mart the other night to see if I could pick up season 2 of Stargate Atlantis.

Couldn't find it on the shelves anywhere.

Near me a guy was asking a store associate if they had some tv show. The associate told him that from time to time they pull videos off the shelf and send them back.

I think the same thing happened to Battlestar Galactica. No fun.

SGU: Divided

Okay... so this week Dr. Rush and the civilans take over the ship. Surprise surprise... was only a matter of time.

The Military have control over lifesupport... the civilians have control over everything else.

Apparently there was a tracking device placed on the ship and one in Rush's chest next to his heart by the aliens from last week.

Of course the aliens come knocking.

I keep asking myself... will they ever find a way to stop the ship from making jumps etc. Will they ever have complete control over the ship? Hmmm...

So the military come after the civilians. For some reason Chloe is all "Hey you're doing this" blah blah blah. Just because she was taken by aliens... can't mean that she wants to be pushing people around. Sure she's pissed etc. and has nightmares... but eh. She's misguided that Rush will help her and save the day... just because he helped her out on the alien vessel.

So the aliens start firing on the ship. Rush and Eli get the shields up.

Colonel Young finds Rush... the military points guns at the civilians. Typical civilan vs. military struggle. Interesting how each side thinks they know which is best for the entire ship.

The procedure for knocking Rush out was classic. Alien vennom.

So they bring in a doctor to remove the tracking device in Rush's chest. She quickly finds out that they are under attack... and is clearly overwhelmed by what's going on.

Half way through the procedure, the connection is lost. Chloe comes back to her hand in Rush's chest.

Wow, didn't mean for this to be a play by play... shoot.

Long story short, they get the device out of Rush... and the ship continues on its way.

Favorite quote from episode:
"If you have to use force, so be it. We still have to live with these people tomorrow."

I wonder if the aliens will be a continual part of the series... or if they'll just be here for a few episodes. I guess we'll find out.

All in all, I didn't like the episode... but I didn't hate it either.

SGU - Space

So, last week... they actually had an alien encounter. Chloe and Dr. Rush were pulled into water tanks on an alien ship. Swimming didn't do to well for them.

It was an interesting episode. Glad to see they finally saw some bad people. Or well people that wanted something from them. Apparently they want Destiny... are obsessed with the ship for some reason.

All in all, I enjoyed the episode.

Networking Bleh

Been trying to hit my XP box with my Vista box tonight. Not having much luck... I was able to hit XP with my Linux box without problem. Something tells me Vista just doesn't like to play well with others for some reason... well of the same family.

Silly Microsoft... oh well, what are they gonna do about it? Shut down any and all support for XP, even though it's widely used still. Oh well... perhaps it's time to format the Vista machine over to Linux after all. Wouldn't be the first time I've done that. Probably won't be the last.

SG:U - April 2nd???

So the next episode of Stargate Universe won't air until April 2nd? What in the heck is up with that?! I've been waiting so long for a new episode... not sure I remember exactly what has happened since the last episode I watched.

Such a strange thing they decided to wait that long to air a new episode. I'm sure people are ticked off because of it... I wonder if it will affect ratings in any way. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Of course they released a DVD box set of what they have aired so far... wasn't very impressed with any of that from what I saw in the store. Methinks I'll wait for the complete series... if/when it will come out.

More Star Trek hits iTunes

So I was browsing iTunes tonight... They posted more Star Trek seasons for Enterprise, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine.

From the looks of things, Voyager and Deep Space Nine have seasons 1 - 3, while Enterprise has seasons 1 and 2.

Promising things are ahead... that's for sure. If this is any indication of it.

Weekend Recap

Okay so possibly more than just a weekend recap... perhaps more of a week recap?

Went out to Wendover this past week. Had some good times there. Won a little bit of money, which is always a nice thing. Played off of the winnings. So we didn't hit the atm at all much. Which is a better plus. Having money to spend is always a good thing.

Spent the weekend down south at the inlaws. It was nice to get away for a bit. The dogs enjoyed being down there during the week. Zoie didn't want to come home with us. We almost left her... but she came back and is chilling again up here.

So yep, it was a great weekend!

Caprica on TV

So, I watched the second episode of Caprica today, after it aired on Friday.

Interesting, very interesting episode. Can't wait till more episodes come out.

I'm not sure if I would out my dead daughter as being a terrorist in front of a huge crowd or national tv without knowing or finding out more answers first. Yeah, probably a bad mistake on the mother's part. Oh well, it's all good... makes for more interesting TV for sure.

As a side note: BSG is available at wal-mart for $17.00... talk about a good time there!

Love how they show Zoe as both the machine and the human. Helps keep things real.

Anywho, can't wait till next week to see what happens next in the world of Caprica.

Cat In Heat

So my cat's in heat... the dog is going crazy 'cause of her constant mewing etc. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the cat and dog are now seeing each other. But not even going there. LOL

Ah methinks I need to get her fixed. Yes indeed.

Headaches

You know what really bugs me the most? Headaches. Yeah that's right headaches... well that and bright light during a headache. Oh yes that isn't any fun. I wonder what causes headaches... I've been told that when you use a medication to get rid of a headache, (ie: Advil or Tylenol), it just masks the symptoms... so do the headaches ever really go away? Or do you always have a headache, just to some lower degree of pain that you can't feel on a day to day basis?

Such an interesting thought.

(Side Note: You know what else is amusing? Squid. Yeah those cute little things that roam the sea for kicks. More on this later... maybe.)

But yeah, if you were to ever cure the common headache so it would never come back.. now that would rock. Don't you think? Yeah I sure would think so... oh yes how awesome that would be.

Paint.NET

It's a sweet alternative to MS Paint... hell it's a good alternative to other paint programs if you don't need all the wizbang bleh of everything. Need a simple and easy to use paint editor, but don't need all the bells and whistles of Photoshop? Try Paint.NET. You won't regret it!

Puppies Sleeping Habits

So we have two dogs. One is Sammy, the other is Zoie. For some weird strange unknown reason, Sammy always sleeps on my side of the bed. He never sleeps on my wife's side of the bed.

Zoie seems to flop to different parts of the bed during the night.

Of course the cats aren't that much better... they end up wherever the heck they want to be.

Silly puppy!

Family

Wow... gotta love family. Sometimes, I suppose. I'm always amused at watching other families interact with each other. At times you're going... wow they must be annoying. Yet they're family.

Phones Are Annoying

I've come to the deep conclusion after months of pondering that phones are annoying.

You're out in public and bam someone's phone goes off... they don't know it's going off 'cause they can't hear the damn thing.

Or you're in a movie, and someone is texting throughout the freakin' movie. What the hell is up with that?! Can't they just wait till the movie is over to have that oh so important conversation?

Yeah, nothing really to tonight's post... just that phones are annoying at times.

Books On The Shelf

So, I just took a quick look at the books on my bookshelf. Especially the ones I've not read yet. Surprise surprise, there are a number of them.

1. The Book Thief
2. World Without End
3. Fire Star
4. The Book Of Time

Just to name a few... so fun so fun. I suppose it's time I got to reading them... before it's too late and I'm too old to even hold a book let alone read the words on the page. lol

Chrome Pet Peve

Okay... so I have one main pet peve of Chrome. It doesn't view xml in a nice viewable format. Allow me to illustrate:

As you can see... silly Chrome renders the xml in it's raw format. Not like how Firefox or even IE would display it.

Now, I'm not certain, but I would imagine that Google would correct this later on down the road. You know, for posterities sake... or something like that.

Hopefully they'll figure it out... who knows they might even have it corrected in their current latest Beta version? Who knows... I for one don't. I just know that I hope they'll fix this little bit of an annoyance soon... and shortly.

I can already hear people shouting out... but Google wants you to use Google Reader for that! Well I've thought about this... and you're probably right. So in the end my point might be moot... who knows. We'll see what happens.

The Random That Was 2009

With 2009 done and gone... here are a few ideas and thoughts from it.

1. I'm married to the most wonderful woman of the world!!!!!!
2. Life is good
3. Car Accidents suck
4. Insurance increasing because of Car Accidents suck
5. Driving is a waste of time, come on teleportation
6. Facebook is a waste of time, yet I still login and post shit
7. Twitter is another waste of time, yet I still login and post shit
8. Blogging is a waste of time, yet I still login and post shit...

Erm... this is starting to get repetitive... oh well

9. I drank a lot of pop in 2009, probably won't stop in 2010
10. New cellphones are wonderful
11. Owning your own home is both wonderful and scary
12. Married a year with still no arguing... rocks
13. Arby's Value Drink from their Value Menu is small (16 oz)

Yeah, 13 items ... yeah that's good enough for now. I'm sure I'll come up with more in the future.

Not Here

Nope, I don't claim to be here in the slightest. Last night, I attempted to upgrade my wordpress install on another site. It didn't like the version of MySQL I was running... so what happened? Yeah... you guessed it. I got upset and deleted the whole thing.

Not sure what I want to do at this juncture. Do I reinstall the sucker, using MySQL 5.0... or just forget about the whole thing. I mean... in reality I do only need one of these blogs right? Right! So... shoot. What am I going to do regarding this mess. What to do what to do...

The other issue I have today... well I have one heck of a headache. Ah yes the headache that seems to come and go and come back. Always reliable that it can be found again and again. Good times I tell ya, good times indeed... okay so not really. Wow I'm starting to ramble.

Watching NCIS on USA today. I'm thinking they have a marathon going on today. So fun, so fun indeed. Abby is cutting into a teddy bear now... lol Love it how she's pretending to be Doctor Abby, doing the whole autopsy thing on the stuffed animal. This show really cracks me up!

I enjoyed the Christmas special NCIS had last Tuesday. So fun, so great. Don't ask me the title of the episode... haven't a freakin' clue. lol

What a way to start the New Year... speaking of New Year, shoot... I've been up and down so much this weekend... I really don't have a clue what day it is. So crazy and yet so fun at the same time. Oh well... fun times to be had for all.

Anyways... I'm not here today. Nope, I plead the 5th today entirely.

Ever feel like no one is listening?

Ever have that feeling that no one is listening to you? Yeah, that feeling. It can be a strong feeling to have, a hurtful feeling also. The...
